Remedies We Use
Stomach pain, bloating, gas, burning,
1. Aloe vera – eat lots of it when you get pain and before meals
2. Drink - 1 tsp x Intestinal Detox Formula#2 in 1 cup water (from Eden Health Foods) http://www.edenhealthfoods.com.au/
Our family and friends have experienced symptoms of heart burn or acid reflux, bloating, gas, acid taste in the mouth and we have found that it is very common for acid reflux to be accompanied by a persistent cough, that in some cases can trigger asthma.
Most often it seems to be food intolerances that cause the acid reflux and these can even be caused by healthy foods like fruit and vegetables, but a particular person can’t properly digest one type of food. The food then ferments in the tummy and causes flatulence (gas) to be produced. The gas bloats up the person’s tummy and burps can then also be caused. The remaining fermenting mass in the stomach causes a type of bad acid in the tummy that does not digest food, but can begin to digest the stomach or food pipe (oesophagus). This is how our doctor explained the process to us when our child was suffering from acid reflux.
We have found a most delightful supplement that helps settle the stomach in the form of raw cacao as made by Loving Earth. It looks just like a regular chocolate bar and it is available in larger health food stores or we have even purchased it on line here: https://lovingearth.net/
For stomach pain, we also find that eating raw aloe vera makes the pain ease off quite well. We found that we must continue eating the aloe vera several times through the day, until we find which food intolerance is causing the problem and omit it from our diets. We had to have a lot of aloe vera plants growing to support this home remedy, but it was very worth it to achieve the pain relief.
For times when gas or bloating is a problem or when we our Loving Earth chocolate supplies are depleted, we find relief in taking a teaspoon of Eden Health Food’s product called “Intestinal Detox Formula#2” mixed with a glass of water. It doesn’t taste as nice as the chocolate, but it takes away the pain very nicely. The IDF#2 has got clay and charcoal, slippery elm and linseed, peppermint in it and somehow it relieves the pain of our family’s gassy tummy and the hurting stomach.
Vomiting
We have found that wrapping an icepack in a teatowel and placing it over the tummy really helps to ease the stimulation to vomit. This is particularly helpful when vomiting is in response to a migraine headache.
If it is a microbe that is causing the vomiting, the icepack on the stomach still seems to help, but obviously medical assistance is required to treat the source of the infection, but the ice-pack can certainly help bring relief while the medication is starting to do its work.
Diarrhea
Sometimes an upset tummy results in diarrhea and again we find relief in taking a teaspoon of Eden Health Food’s product called “Intestinal Detox Formula#2” mixed with a glass of water. It doesn’t taste nice, but it certainly does help the diarrhea to steady up in our experiences. The IDF#2 has got clay and charcoal, slippery elm and linseed, peppermint in it and is very gentle on our stomach and bowel.
